Blue Squirrel uses a Point System. Spam Sleuth has analyzers, such as, Friends, Spammers, To, Goodwords, Badwords, Profanity, Subject, and Attachments. Much like a contest, each Analyzer is a judge, the messages are the contestants, and Spam Sleuth is the scorekeeper. Every Analyzer looks at the e-mail message differently and assigns points based on specific criteria. Then Spam Sleuth adds all of the points together and creates an overall total. The more points an e-mail message receives the more likely it is to be deemed as spam. The fewer points an e-mail message receives the more likely it is a real gem.
Spam Sleuth also monitors e-mail behind the scenes and analyzes e-mail messages for spam and virus characteristics. When an e-mail program gets e-mail, the spam has already been removed and the messages are read as before, but without sorting through the junk e-mail to find the gems.
