Cavendish is a visualization tool for the n-body problem. Any massive object will create a gravitational field in three dimensions; thus, each object will apply a force to each other object. For more than three objects, the problem is impossible to solve analytically and requires a numeric solution. Cavendish accurately solves these equations of motion and displays in 3D the trajectories of each planet.Cavendish is named after Henry Cavendish (1731 - 1810) who used a torsion balance to accurately measure the value of the universal gravitational constant for the first time.
