Dream of a Sunday afternoon in Alameda Park. Mural painted by Mexican muralist Diego Rivera for the Del Prado Hotel in Mexico City. In the center of the mural is La Catrina; an iconic skeleton figure, symbol of the urban bourgeoisie at the turn of the nineteenth century, created by engraver Jos Guadalupe Posada. Diego Rivera as a child stands to the left of La Catrina; Behind him is his wife, Frida Kahlo. Diego Rivera, in an imaginary walk through the Alameda Park in Mexico, presents snapshots of Mexican social history, represented by some of its most significant protagonists, in this magnificent work of art.
