Discalog is the cross-platform disk cataloguing utility. There are versions for the Macintosh and Windows; one database can be used on both platforms, so that all your files can be catalogued together. Any mountable volume can be catalogued, and you can choose to catalogue all files on the disk or only files in specified user-defined categories. Keywords are automatically created from the file names and (optionally) the enclosing folder names. You can also specify keywords for all the files on a volume. Search for files by keywords, file name, create/modify date, comments, creator type, file type. "De-Dupe" duplicate files. The handy File Type Detective will check all the files on a volume and tell you what types they are. They can then be easily categorised.
