When deleting files and folders in Windows, they are not really deleted but moved to the Windows Recycle Bin. Even if the Recycle Bin has been cleared it's possible to recover those files. Why? Because Windows just marks them as deleted but does not overwrite the file data. DataErase uses special algorithms in order to overwrite files so that it's not possible to recover them, neither with recovery software nor with special hardware equipment. DataErase is able to totally wipe already deleted files by overwriting the free diskspace. DataErase supports deleting files, folders, freespace, partitions and complete drives. It uses VSITR, DoD 5220-22.M, Bruce Schneier, Gutmann, Single Pass and you may define your own wipe algorithm. For use in companies or goverment, DataErase contains a logging feature, which created digital signed logs. DataErase supports batch wiping multiple volumes at the same time.
