Dance is a software package for modeling physics-based character animation, including: ragdoll simulation, import/export of motion capture, pose-based dynamic control, creation of high-quality rendering via POVRay, and integration with Open Dynamics Engine (ODE). DANCE has been used for a variety of physics-based applications that include biomechanics modelling and composeable controllers. Characters may be animated through the following means: Keyframe animation, Motion capture animation, Physical simulation without control (ragdoll), Physical simulation with pose-based control, Physical simulation with controllers written via Python scripts, Combination of physical simulation and animation.
