Overview:

This science fiction novella tells of a future where genetic engineering allows Black people to become White-- for a terrible price. Racists rule this nightmarish world where skin is the ultimate status symbol and a persons color is solely determined by income. We follow the struggle of a young Black man who abandons his race for a chance at misguided White happiness. Milton is overcome by his betrayal of his people and leads a revolution against a government that now wants him dead and his race extinguished. This provocative work explores issues such as the dignity of man, racial intolerance and the economic systems that reinforce them. Unlike Ralph Ellisons Invisible Man, Milton wont hide to survive. He is The Visible Man.
