Overview:
Plan for Windows is a cost effective alternative to Microsoft Project. Plan can read/write Microsoft Project files, so may be used as a Microsoft Project file viewer. Note that Plan isn't just a simple Microsoft Project viewer, it is an independent application which can update and recalculate plans and if required write them back in Microsoft format. Plan enables the creation of a project plan by entering tasks, resources, adding holiday information, and creating dependencies between tasks. Plan will calculate the entire project schedule taking into consideration dependencies between tasks and holidays. Plan includes the display of a Gantt chart and calculation of the critical path. Use Plan for Windows as a standalone application or in conjunction with Plan on a range of handheld devices (Pocket PC, Symbian). This option allows you to create project plans on your PC and then transfer the data to your handheld device, where you can continue to work on your plan whilst on the move. Version 3.01 added support for reading Microsoft Project 2007 files.
