Overview:

MS Access 2003 MDE/ADE applications can not run in Access 2002. Applications compiled with the undocumented SysCmd call can not run on Access 2002 because of the differences in Access VBA projects. Access MDE Compiler is an Access add-in that can compile Access MDB/ADP applications in Access 2002 - 2003 format to MDE/ADE applications in Access 2002 (XP) format using MS Access 2003. The generated applications are 100% stabile and error free. All issues from previous versions of AMDEC have been solved and the future Access service packs should not introduce any new problems. The product creates MDE files just like MS Access 2002 (XP) would do. In case of problems you can look up any regular MDE creation checklist like this one. AMDEC created applications, in Access 2002 MDE/ADE format, run on Access 2002, 2003 and 2007. Access MDE Compiler is very useful in situations where your custumers have Access 2002 (XP) and you have Access 2003. The advantages of this add-in over buying Visual Studio Office 2003 Developer Extensions for this task or buying and installing Access 2002 in addition to Access 2003 on your computer are significant. You do not have to distribute a runtime version of Access and no conflicts will appear with installed MS Access applications on your client's desktops or on the development computer. This topic is described in more details here. The add-in supports MDB and MDA databases with Access user level security and behaves like the build-in "Make MDE File" function. Access MDE Compiler can compile all MDB/ADP files made by Access 2003. However, this tool can not replace calls to new Access 2003 properties and methods in the VBA code. If your application uses this type of code a trappable error will be generated at runtime and your application may halt.
