When you double-click on a document in the Finder, the MacOS will try to open the document with the creator application. But sometimes you might not wish to do so. There's no point in launching the mighty Photoshop just to view a JPEG. Files downloaded from the internet often don't have the creator information the MacOS needs to do its magic. Your mac will do its best to select the best application, but why wait when you could tell it which one to use from the beginning ?When you double-click on a document in the Finder, the MacOS will try to open the document with the creator application. OpenWith CMM allows you to open a document with any application that is either running or part of a list you define with a simple click of you mouse.You may group applications in folders to create a hierarchical application list (up to 4 levels, due to limitations of the MacOS). And unlike many similar utilities, OpenWith CMM uses an advanced caching system to avoid scanning the items folder every time you use the contextual menu thus eliminating those annoying little pauses.
