Overview:

vScan is a shareware Macintosh anti-virus utility which will scan all types of Mac disks for the AutoStart 9805 worm and Graphics Accelerator viruses. All versions of vScan from version 1.5 upward also contain a database of Mac-specific trojan horses plus a database of file attachments associated with PC-specific e-mail viruses, worms and trojan horses. A total of nine databases are used in helping to locate and eliminate these files from a disk.In Quick Scan (lite) mode, vScan looks for the AutoStart Worm and SevenDust Virus in their exact locations on a disk and also performs a root-level and desktop-level scan for the file attachments belonging to PC-specific worms and viruses. In Full Scan (registered) mode, vScan will use all nine databases in order to detect any combination of these files in any location on a disk. If vScan locates 'Suspect' files on your computer, you can instruct vScan to 'isolate' these files using one of three different methods. The Full Scan method is the recommended method for scanning your computer using vScan.vScan will not harm your computer nor any of the files stored on your computer. In your System Folder, vScan will install two preference files used for storing system settings and bookmarks, a pattern file, a set of help files and a Control Strip Module (under Mac OS 8.5 and greater only). There are no extensions or control panels therefore there should be no conflicts associated with the use of vScan.
