Overview:
CreationPal has released an application called Sportypal a fitness type of application that will run on any type of phone that has GPS built-in. It uses the GPS in the phone to track speed, pace, distance, calories burned, elevation during an activity (running, cycling, hiking, rollerblading, skiing, walking... ) While exercising the application is providing you with real time information like elapsed time, speed/pace, distance covered, max speed and climb. Also there is the ability to switch into map view which use's Google Maps to display your location. After the workout is done, it allows you to upload the recorded GPX type of file to the SportyPal website. Once the workout is uploaded you can see the route of your movement as well as more deep detailed data. You will see icons on the map for things like: Start, Stop, Fastest Speed, Highest Elevation and few other tools for manualy selecting checkpoints from your track to analyze separated parts from your workout. The options to share your workout with other users in the community section who are also using this web service and share their workouts with you is available. As well as to share your workout with all the other social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace... And to embed your workout maps. The embedded maps are fully interactive Google Maps, and include whatever the original Maps page displayed. Very helpful tool if you want to show people the place you're writing about in a blog post, or if you're organizing an event and want to show people where it is.
