Overview:
Over 900 Paintings by more than 100 Impressionist artists in one slideshow screensaver. Works by Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Eduoard Manet, Alfred Sisley, Berthe Morisot, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Camille Pissarro, Thomas Eakins, William Merritt Chase, Winslow Homer, and Gustave Caillebotte. Radicals in their time, early Impressionists broke the rules of academic painting. They gave colour, freely brushed, primacy over detail line. Characteristics of the style include visible brush strokes, emphasis on light in its changing qualities, ordinary modern day subject matter, the inclusion of movement as an element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. They emphasized vivid overall effects rather than details.
