Overview:

Robust documentation-to-source-code traceability implementations can be realized using the Sense Professional Edition editor. Sense uses uniquely identified objects representing lines and more complex document structures to support a lightweight implementation of document to document and source code cross-referencing. Sense's built-in application interface(API) supports integration into wider business systems allowing automated file control, document annotation and individual line access for more specialized traceability implementations. The Sense document object model, by ensuring link breakage is minimized, underpins cross-referencing with its preview feature displaying link targets as document fragments. Documents can be created from new or be imported in plain text and rich text file formats. Sense source code handling is based on file-type specific proxy management with pre-defined profiles for "C", "C++", "C#", "Java" and "JavaScript" defining rules for syntax highlighting and auto-indentation: profiles are fully customizable and file-type extendable. The proxy manager makes export of source code to native plain text file-types a simple operation. Externally modified source code can be re-imported: a special check-in algorithm attempts line identity restoration to re-establish those important cross-reference links. Sense Professional Edition incorporates all of the editorial features of the Sense Personal Edition including treeview based document navigation and management, hyperlink support and style control.
