Overview:
BreachGuard is a free credit card loss prevention software for home and business users. It monitors and intercepts the transmission of credit card numbers in clear-text or in other words clearly visible to the outside world in real-time. Your sensitive data transmitted in clear-text from your computer over the internet can be viewed by hackers who in turn can use your personal information to commit identity theft or fraud. BreachGuard can protect you from potential online identity theft by preventing inadvertent or accidental leakage of credit card numbers over clear-text protocols and applications such as outlook, webmail, (Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail,) instant messaging (IM), FTP, HTTP, SMTP. It also provides you with the option to block or allow the insecure transmission of credit card numbers. BreachGuard can also scan and locate insecure storage of credit card numbers in files (doc, xls, txt,, ppt rtf, xml, html etc) by scanning hard disks, portable storage devices, USB flash drives, CD and DVD. BreachGuard can detect VISA, Master Card, American Express, JCB, Discover and Diners Club credit cards. To protect your privacy only the last four digits of the credit card number(s) are logged for reporting purposes by the software. All the notifications and alerts are logged to a password protected log file which is secured using strong military grade AES-256 bit encryption.
