Overview:

WirelessySend Custom Designed Reports To A Printer: Many HanDBase users have been looking for a report writing applicationthat would allow them to print their HanDBase information directly fromtheir PDA. Using HanDBase Reporter they can now print invoices, patient records, sales orders, equipment logs, receipts, survey resultsor anything else needed, right from HanDBase. HanDBase Reporter is a tool designed to allow the HanDBase user tocreate custom templates that will be filled out with database data andthen printed to hardcopy using an infrared printer, wireless networkingor a serial port. The templates may contain typesetting informationsuch as italics, bold, centering, tables, lists, etc. Currently supported platforms are the Pocket PC (Microsoft WindowsMobile 3.0 and above, on ARM based devices) and PalmSource PalmOS(version 3.5 and above). Reporter includes all the software componentsfor either of the platforms to function, which includes printer driversdeveloped by Bachmann Software from their PrintBoy Enterprise Edition. HanDBase Reporter comes in two pieces: Report Templates Manager andReport Templates Printer. The first is an application that allows theuser to design templates using an integrated editor; all templates inthe device can also be administrated in that same program. The secondis mostly transparent to the end user, it becomes active whenever auser chooses to either Print Record or Print Records within HanDBase. If multiple report templates are available for the active database, theuser is given the option of which templates to use and then theprinting begins. Requirements: The user that will be creating the templates should have basicknowledge of HTML (HyperText Markup Language). Database development anddata type knowledge of HanDBase is required. Pocket PC Edition: Microsoft Windows CE version 3.0 and above. An ARM based processor in the device. 1.2MB of available memory on device. HanDBase for PalmOS version 3.0j and above. Both platforms require an infrared printer or some means of sendingdata to a printer. In the event that the user will be printing viawireless (BlueTooth or 802.11b), it is assumed that proper setup of themedium has already been done and that the handheld and the printer arecommunicating properly.
