Overview:

Cholesterol is an essential part of every cell membrane. It also serves as a precursor to many hormones. Cholesterol is produced by the liver and it also enters the body from dietary sources, such as milk, eggs and meat. When there is too much cholesterol in your blood, it can build up in the walls of the arteries. Over time, this buildup may cause the arteries to harden - a process referred to as arteriosclerosis. When the arteries are narrowed, blood flow to the heart muscle is slowed down. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the heart. If enough blood and oxygen cannot reach the heart, you may suffer chest pain. Heart attack occurs if the blood supply to a portion of the heart is completely blocked. There are two major forms of cholesterol: Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL). These are the form in which cholesterol travels in the blood. LDL have little protein and high levels of cholesterol and HDL has a lot of protein and very little cholesterol.LDL is the main source of artery clogging plaque it is called bad cholesterol. On opposite, HDL works to clear cholesterol from the blood it is called good cholesterol. Measuring your blood cholesterol can help you and your doctor prevent or control arteriosclerosis and its many complications. We suggest that persons over age of 40 begin measuring their blood cholesterol at least once a year. The Cholesterol Tracker simplifies data logging. The software automatically saves Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglycerides, date of measurement, and comments. In addition to being a convenient data logger the software is also a voluble tool for blood cholesterol longitudinal trends analysis. This longitudinal analysis may help you and your doctor decide on the best medicine and help adjust the drug dosage. Features This software was designed in accordance with American Heart Association Guidelines. The intuitive interface for Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and Triglycerides logging. Oversized numbers for easy data entry. Monitor changes in blood cholesterol over time on the longitudinal graphs. Trend line over any time interval. The History display allows one to view all historic data. Comments such as sickness, allergy, stress, or flying across several time zones can be easily entered from a drop-down box. Free text comments. You can save all data into a text file for sharing with your physician. You can save all data into a CSV file (comma delimited text file) for backup and editing. You can edit the CSV file on the desktop PC with Excel, Notepad, or any other text editing software. You can load data from the CSV file into the Tracker software. Extremely small database size - ten years worth of recordings take less than 1kB of your device memory. Designed to be conveniently used by elder people, who may not have fully developed computer skills.Recommended Cholesterol Levels The desirable cholesterol level is less than 200mg/dL (5.2mmol/L). The borderline cholesterol level is from 200 to 240mg/dL (5.2 to 6.2mmol/L). The cholesterol greater than 240mg/dL (6.2mmol/L) is considered high. The low-density lipoprotein (LDL cholesterol) increases the risk of heart disease. The desirable level of LDL (the 'bad' cholesterol) is less than 130mg/dL (3.4mmol/L). The borderline LDL level is from 130 to 160mg/dL (3.4 to 4.1mmol/L). The LDL greater than 160mg/dL (4.1mmol/L) is considered high. The high-density lipoprotein (HDL cholesterol) helps to lower risk of heart disease. The desirable level of HDL (the 'good' cholesterol) is greater than 60mg/dL (1,5mmol/L). The borderline HDL level is from 40 to 60mg/dL (1.0 to 1.5mmol/L). The HDL less than 40mg/dL (1.0mmol/L) is considered too low. The desirable level of triglycerides is less than 150mg/dL (1.7mmol/L). The borderline triglycerides level is from 150 to 200mg/dL (1.7 to 2.3mmol/L). The triglycerides greater than 200mg/dL (2.3mmol/L) is considered high. The triglycerides greater than 500mg/dL (6.8mmol/L) is considered very high. Note: The trial version is limited to 20 uses.Note: You do not need to uninstall the trial version, the full version will overwrite the trial software.
