Overview:
Vianix PocketTalk ProTM Basic Edition is a fully featured voice recorder for Pocket PC handheld devices. It is based on Managed Audio Sound Compression (MASC), a best-in-breed, high performance CELP-based speech compression technology for 8 KHz sampled speech, which offers high compression while maintaining pristine voice quality. MASC also uniquely has a negligible impact on Automatic Speech Recognition Word Error Rates, making PocketTalk an ideal choice for mobile dictation.PocketTalk provides a full suite of voice recording and management functions for Windows based Pocket PC platforms. PocketTalk creates, manages, edits, e-mails, and plays back compressed files with a .mcf (MASC Compressed Format) or .wav extension, and also can create self-extracting .sfx files. When launched on a device without MASC, .sfx files transparently download Vianix VPlayer, a decoder/player whichdecodes voice from the compressed file and queues it for playback. PocketTalk's voice e-mail allows a user to send compressed files using the underlying MASC technology with very high quality reproduction compared to other compression technologies such as ITU-T or ETSI standards based codecs. MASC based voice e-mail, in comparison to uncompressed PCM .wav files, enhances the mobile user experience with outstanding voice quality in limited bandwidth wireless data networks and on limited memory Pocket PC devices.DeskTalk is a similarly featured companion product for the PC.
