Overview:

Glycosylated (or glycated) hemoglobin (hemoglobin A1c, Hb1c , HbA1c or HbA1c) is a form of hemoglobin used primarily to identify the average plasma glucose concentration over prolonged periods of time. Its name is sometimes abbreviated to A1C. It is formed in a non-enzymatic pathway by hemoglobin's normal exposure to high plasma levels of glucose. Glycosylation of hemoglobin has been implicated in nephropathy and retinopathy in diabetes mellitus. Monitoring the HbA1c in type-1 diabetic patients may improve treatment. This simple calculator will estimate the Hemoglobin A1c value based on a mean plasma glucose value, which is an average of blood sugars measured over a period of time. It will also estimate the mean plasma glucose value based upon a Hemoglobin A1c reading. The splash screen is a standard disclaimer. The A1C to Mean Plasma Glucose screen will estimate the mean plasma glucose value. The Mean Plasma Glucose to A1C screen will estimate the A1C reading. The exit button will exit the application.
